About Me

Pride is more than just rainbows in June.

I got sick and tired of never seeing my colors represented. I didn't want some corporate suit designing my pride gear, anyway. And I knew I couldn't be the only one who felt this way.

So I began Mythical Swag with the goal of designing sassy prints with bold colors in every palette of the queer rainbow, and making them easy for everyone to find in one place, all year, all the time. Minimalism has no place in this house. I use bright colors, big patterns, and themes of fantasy creatures to highlight how real our existence is.

I take a great deal of inspiration from the status of queer folk as people throughout history, as establishments have attempted to exclude us from daily life for how we were made to love. We have been likened to faeries and demons who steal children, unicorns and dragons that are just too absurd to be real, and even gods who are beyond containment. These are powerful metaphors that have clearly been meant to do us harm; and yet we have embraced them and made them part of our identity.

After all, how can the law apply to something that doesn't exist? Like a unicorn, faerie, or a person who loves differently?

This subversion makes me about as happy as swag, itself, does, which is why I want to combine as much of the two as possible. It brings me joy, and I hope it brings you joy, as well.

I use print-on-demand providers to bring my designs to the full spectrum of goods. From apparel, to decor, to gifts and accessories, you can finally find the swag you love in your own true colors. I only work with print providers located in Canada and the USA, and support American businesses and workers as much as possible. I take great care not to source products from China.

As a queer Christian, inclusivity for all people is very important to me; but so is respecting the beliefs and practices of cultures outside my personal experience. Therefore, I try to avoid the intersection of sexuality and religion or ethnicity in my designs, as appropriation or misrepresentation is never my intention. I am, however, happy to discuss custom designs upon request.
